Collaboration between Importfab and Concordia University
Collaborating with universities is always a source of pride for Importfab.
Last year, in August, in fact, the company launched an important project, linked to the optimization and efficiency of production processes, with a group of engineering students from Concordia University in Montréal.
Thanks to the co-op engineering program, which allows students to alternate the academic study with periods of full-time work experience within realities related to their career path and interests, the young team worked for about 7 months on the creation of CAPSTONE: a tool capable of generating more efficiently customer orders, planning them according to the availability of raw materials.
The project, supervised and coordinated by Amato Gidaro – Supply Chain & Engineering Director in Importfab, was presented by the team to all other engineering students of the University, in occasion of the day dedicated to Concordia Engineering Capstone that took place at the end of May.
The program has allowed young graduates to put into practice, within the productive spaces of Importfab, what they learned during the degree course and to see the tool implemented within the company.
A team work carried out in full Lean perspective, for the creation of excellent standardized processes with the contribution of people and placing the needs of the end customer at the center.
